KanYe West - Devil In A New Dress
Posted September 3rd 2010

First off, let me apologize for my absence the last few days. We've been cooking up some special things for you guys over here at The Grandiose so keep checking in. Second, this is what the fuck I'm talking about. This is what I've been missing from Ye. I like that he's out in the music world being an artist and not just doing the same thing over and over, but this is where I think he shines. No I.D. definitely did his part on the production too so let's not let that go unnoticed. I'm glad Ye kept good on his promise of G.O.O.D. Fridays of the family releasing something new every Friday. Let's see how they can top this next week.

Inception Special Edition Blu-Ray Announced
Posted September 3rd 2010

It's only right I follow up the lego scene below with the announcement of the special edition release of Inception due out December 6th just in time for the holidays. The triple disc pack will include the Blu-Ray, DVD, and digital copy along side a spinning top, theatrical dream machine leaflet and four art cards showing main key art all in the dreamiest briefcase ever (see what I did right there....dreamy...). People can opt for the Inception briefcase from today when pre-ordering Christopher Nolan’s Inception from all major online retailers including Play, Amazon and HMV. We assume that North America will see the same release, but we can only hope.

Intelligentsia unveils Madlib's limited Espresso blend
Diddy and Ye are up there along with some other flamboyant characters as far as being Grandiose goes, but Madlib has done something I've never seen before. In celebration of the opening of their Pasadena, CA location, Intelligentsia Coffee hooked up with Madlib to create a special espresso blend 16 oz coffee bag. What other producer do you know has his own coffee son?!?! (Dave Chappelle voice). This espresso comes whole-bean and was freshly roasted at Intelligentsia's East L.A. facilities on 8/04/10. It will remain at peak freshness until around the first week of September so you need to jump on that. You can pick yours up now or check it out over at Stones Throw online store below.

Game ft. Jay Electronica - Higher (prod. Swizz Beatz)

The latest track from Jayceon featuring Jay elec yamaka and produced by Swizzy. What appears to be a dope song already is definitely not done (notice only two verses and a lot of time at the end). Be on the lookout for the final version which is said to include Nas that should be out soon.

Brad Pitt In Red Dead Redemption Adaptation
Posted August 26th 2010

Red Dead Redemption is a phenomenal success. Brad Pitt is that dude. Put them together and I really don't see how things could go bad. As of June 2010, the open world action-adventure Western video game has sold five million copies and did so well that Hollywood is already looking to make the movie. Not only is Brad Pitt the first choice, but he has already been offered the lead role according to ShowBizSpy.com. While his agent has publically said they're reviewing the offer, this has the potential to be a great thing for the gaming and movie world a like. Just remember where you heard it.

James Bond's personal submarine is flat out no match for the new Seabreacher models. Available in a 155hp dolphin J inspired model or the more dreaded shark-bodied 266hp X model, these personal watercrafts can reach up to 50 mph on the surface and up to 25 mph submerged, and are capable of high-speed dives that send the craft launching out of the water. Other features include a snorkel-mounted video camera and an iPod-compatible stereo system which definitely should be included considering that they start at $65,000 and up. Steve Sauer: Grandiose Living
Posted August 24th 2010

A Cross Section of a Boeing Engineer's Crazy-Efficient Condo
After seeing this, you should never be able to complain about how your room or house isn't big enough. Steve Sauer, who is an engineer for Boeing, has spent the last 7 years turning this 182-square-foot basement condo into a decked-out, three-level dwelling.

A Cross Section of a Boeing Engineer's Crazy-Efficient Condo
If you were looking for the bathtub, it is built into the floor just beneath the front door and covered up by a 3form chroma panel. This is not the product of him throwing out stuff he normally uses, but just reinventing the way he looked at the space that was being used. The condo still includes two beds, a 37" TV, a bathroom with shower, a kitchen with working dishwasher, and space for two full-size bicycles. Sauer spent hundreds of hours searching the internet for the perfect pieces at the exact size needed. When he couldn't find those pieces, he made them himself.

A Cross Section of a Boeing Engineer's Crazy-Efficient Condo

If you think that he's the only one that can fit in this cozy abode, you my friend are dead wrong. The luxury condo can fit up to 10 people which he has had over numerous times for parties just to see if it was possible. Not only do we tip our hats to Mr. Sauer for being a fucking genious, but we also challenge you guys to rethink your living conditions and to see what kind of space-saving elements you can come up with.

SeDrew Price - Basic Training

drew_basic_training_front.jpg picture by TheGrandiose09
No introduction is needed, but I have one for you guys anyways:

"When SeDrew Price dropped his first mixtape "Roll Da Mat Out" in 2005, his status was instantly elevated from a popular high school student to the Prince of Las Vegas.  His raw and punch-line heavy lyrics had all who listened praising him as the next great talent in hip hop music.  Feeding off of the success of his first mixtape, SeDrew spent the next several years in the studio dedicated to improving his skills with his new-found passion for hip hop.  By the time SeDrew dropped "T.D.A.T" in 2009, the streets of Vegas were still spinning off of the buzz from his last five mixtapes, "Wake the F*#k Up," "By Any Means Necesarry," "Rap or Die," "Rap or Die 1.5," and "The Rebellion."  While Price is in the studio working hard on his latest project, "The New Regime," he still wanted to deliver what many eager fans have been waiting for: an exclusive snapshot through time of SeDrew's music. Featuring a dope Collection of the favorites / hits / classics from his last six mixtapes, "Basic Training" is your official crash-course in SeDrew's lyrical evolution."

We got you on the link below for your free downloand. You're welcome.

Entourage Winding Down
Posted August 10th 2010

In it's seventh season, HBO's hit series has become one it's top-viewed shows of all-time and is one my personal favorites that I never miss. At the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour, HBO programming president Michael Lombardo divulged some details on the end of the critically acclaimed show. According to Lombardo, the series is reaching its end, with creator/head writer Doug Ellin currently devising a way to wrap up the adventures of Vince, Eric, Turtle, and Drama. They also want to pen a movie for the show after the series closes out seeing how well HBO's Sex In The City did at the box office. All good things must come to an end and this show is no different. It looks like next season will be the last, but it's not all bad fans. We saw the premiere of How To Make It In America earlier this year which gave off the same vibe, but just in a younger generation's perspective. The show has been renewed for a second season and we're sure to have more info on the second season premiere as soon as this season of Entourage is over.

Firebreather
This is only right. It can't get no righter. Everybody from Hollywood to the music world is remaking old works of art and we already saw GM bring back the Camaro so this is about as close as we're going to get to a 2011 Firebird. It has a modified body that goes as far as you can into F-bird territory without running into GM design patents, a supercharged, 6.2L V8 good for 599 rear-wheel horses, a custom interior, custom 20-inch wheels, and a price tag of $60,000. Check out a dope intro, more pics and ordering information below.

Tarantino To Rewrite The Shadow
Posted August 6th 2010

Remember the 1994 movie adaptation of the comic book with Alec Baldwin? I know, I try my best to forget it too. Apparently after Sony (who had Sam Raimi writing) gave up on rebooting The Shadow, they sold the rights to Fox and they have said that Quentin is re-writing Siavash Farahani’s script. This would definitely be a big step forward for this project. As long as they do The Shadow justice and it's not a horrible vision like what Frank Miller did to The Spirit (still pissed about that), I will be happy camper. I won't actually be camping or anything, just pleased.

Yes look closely. One white guy with a guitar and 3 lyricists. If that's not a recipe for success, I don't know what is. You remember the study Dave Chappelle did, white people love the electric guitar. So you add some hip hop to that and everybody wins. Say hello to Logik, Lonnie Ro, and Saint P and an introduction to the musical styling of the band producer Jono who make up SomeWhere Else. This is the single off their Master Basement project which drops on August 9th which will be free. All of this after winning the 2008 International Battle of the Bands. Mayer Hawthorne - I Need You

The Great X once said, "Fuck what you heard, it's what you hearing". Now while Mayer isn't a hardcore guy like Earl, he's still that dude and this jam is no different. Nottz handled the production and the end result was this smooth, laid back track. Now while Stonesthrow is not giving away their golden boy's song for free, you can cop the mp3 from them via the link below.

That is assuming you have a security system because I don't, but this sounds like the one for me. For the retail price of $600, you give burglars 40 seconds to figure something out before the pepper spray is dispensed. Check out picking one up for yourself via the link below.

Adidas Tron: Legacy Hi's
Posted July 25th 2010

TRON: The Sneakers, The Rant
Oddly enough, this isn't the first Tron sneaker made by Adidas. If you recall some years back, Adidas made some all-black Stan Smith IIs with velcro straps that didn't sell very well. With the upcoming Tron: Legacy set to release, I think this time around will be different. Here's the catch though, the glowing you see on the shoe is not what it appears to be. Instead of dope LED screens on the shoe (which would hace cost soooo much), Adidas used reflective stitching and a reflective screen print for the striped-logo on the side. Now there's no real release info other than they will drop in December around the time of the movie. I think it's safe to say we should expect a plethora of merchandise releasing as well.

Lupe Fiasco - Build Minds Faster (BMF)
Posted July 24th 2010

I'm not going to go into the problems with Lupe and his label, but it's along the lines of they're not feeling Lasers and don't want to put the money behind it so the fans actually got together a petition (http://www.petitiononline.com/Beaming/petition-sign.html) and I'm not saying it worked, but Atlantic Records announced that Lasers WOULD be releasing soon via Twitter. I'm not a fan of the flow of BMF, but I like the substance of the track and the perspective he was trying to give the listeners. Either way, I want Lasers like everybody else. Check out the track below before Atlantic goes crazy and shuts down the link.

The Legend of Cain
Posted July 21st 2010

So we know Will has signed on to do Men In Black III (in 3D of course) and the Independence Day sequel is still in talks, but it seems he has signed on for a new project that will also be  produced with his Overbrook Entertainment partners Jada Pinkett Smith, James Lassiter, and Ken Stovitz. Caleeb Pinkett and Dan Knauf, with Andrea Berloff revising wrote the script of the biblical tale of Cain and Able with a vampire twist. Yea I'm not sure where that came from, but Will liked what he saw so much, he made the project happen himself. He starts filming MIB III in August, so we probably won't see this project for another year or so.

Japanese Cartoon - In The Jaws of The Lords of Death

First off, if you don't know about Lupe's Japanese punk-rock band then your behind as it is. Lu openly denied that he was the lead singer, but that was a flat out lie. Not only is the album coming soon, but it's available now for free through the official website and you can even pick up some dope merchandise. Now because I said Lupe, that does not mean this is "hip-hop". Remember they're a punk-rock group. Why Lupe sings in a British accent? I don't know, but it's worth checking out if you're into different genres of music.

"Straight up out the Bay where them Sharks get extra viscious" lets you know right from the intro that he's not here to waste time and that the Bay Area is still in the building. Dude is just as nice going over a soulful beat like "By My Side" or a banger like "This That". Marvel's Dr. Strange Gets Movie Adaptation
Posted June 22nd 2010

It looks like Hollywood is literally picking Marvel names out of a hat and making movies out of them. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Dr. Strange fan and he's probably one of the most underrated superheroes especially with all the powers he has, but they're even making an Ant Man movie....Ant Man! Marvel Studios did announce theirs plans for the full length film and has hired Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer to work on the screenplay who also did the screenplay for the upcoming Conan and are currently working on the movie adaptation of the popular PS3 title Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

The Walking Dead Comic Adaptation
Posted June 3rd 2010

The underground survival horror comic book series will be coming to the small screen as a 6 episode season to start and photos from the set of the upcoming AMC production have hit the net. Frank Darabont who's worked on multiple Stephen King movies and even an early Freddy movie is most known for his screenplay work on The Shawshank Redemption and is already at work with the series.

Walking Dead 2
The six-episode first season of The Walking Dead follows a band of apocalypse survivors as they make their way through the zombie-infested South, lead by a small-town police officer Rick Grimes. I can't say enough about the comic book series and zombie fans all over are already giddy about the series. No word yet on when the show will premiere, but they just started filming in Atlanta and it is expected to air later this year. Darabont is also working on an adaptation of Fahrenheit 451, but there are no zombies in that so who cares.

Back To The Future Hoverboard Replica
Posted May 31st 2010

I know most of us have been waiting for this to actually be invented, but this is the closest we have for the moment. French artist Nils Guadagnin has created an actual replica of the hoverboard used in Back To The Future II. Integrated into the board and the plinth is an electromagnetic system which levitates the board. A laser system stabilises the object in the air. You can't fly around on it, but it would make a hell of a living room display. Check it out below:
